CLUB HISTORY
In March 6th 1928 a meeting took place in the Council Chambers in Limerick City, the purpose being the formation of a Canine Club. Amongst those present The Earl of Dunraven, Mr. M. J. Russell, Mr. J. P. Frost & Mr. J. Sheehan. A proposed set of rules were read and adopted, thus began the life of Limerick & District Canine Club, which has continued without a break ever since.

The members of the founding Committee were:
The Earl of Dunraven.
Chairman: Mr. Matt Russell.
Hon. Secretary: Mr. Joe Sheehan.
Hon. Treasurer: The Hon. Mr. V. St Clair Gloster.
Members of the Committee: Messrs. A. Nestor, H. Nestor, T. O'Brien, P. Cusack, R.S. Ryan;
M. Gillian, W. Plant, J.P. Frost, M.J. Brouder, P.A. Coffee, R.S. O'Brien.

The above laid the foundation for the first show held in August 1928, which was run at the Green Park Race Course & Show Grounds and remained there for years until the show became one of the largest in Ireland and had to move to a new venue.

Our new venue is in the grounds of the 'Fitzgerald's Woodlands Hotel' Adare, Co. Limerick and is one of the finest venues on the 'Show Circuit' with all the facilities of the hotel placed at our disposal by the Fitzgerald Family who provide dining and bar service all day. We are indeed very lucky to have such a lovely setting in which to hold our Annual Championship Show.

This year we have an excellent panel of International Judges and hope to attract a bigger entry then ever before. Come and join us in a great gathering of "Dog Lovers" from Ireland (North & South) England, Scotland, Wales & the Channel Isles & enjoy the great fun event that the 'Munster Circuit' of Dog Shows is.

A special word of thanks to our present Officers & Committee who put in an immense amount of hard work during the year to make sure that everything goes well on the day of the Show.
Yours in dogs,

LIMERICK & DISTRICT CANINE CLUB
